For Consumers: Complaint Resolution

Complaint Resolution

State regulations protect the rights of senior living residents to voice grievances and suggest changes in policies and services to either staff or outside representatives without fear of restraint, interference, coercion, discrimination, or reprisal.

State regulations require  licensed senior living providers to have a formal process for receiving and responding to grievances in a timely manner. If you have a complaint regarding care or services, please contact the administrator/executive director of the assisted living community to discuss your concerns.

The Louisiana State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program investigates and resolves complaints made by or on behalf of residents of long-term care facilities/communities. Ombudsmen also assist consumers and potential consumers with the process of choosing a long-term care provider. For more information or to request assistance from your local Ombudsman, please call the State Ombudsman Office at (225)342-7100 or toll free at (866)632-0922.

As the state agency with authority to license and regulate licensed senior living providers, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals is charged with investigating resident and family complaints regarding abuse or neglect of residents and/or quality of care and services. To file a complaint, please contact the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals, Health Standards Division at (225) 342-0138 or
